1. Scope
This policy applies to the Fretwise Pro marketing website, Fretwise Pro: The Path desktop application, customer support communications, and licence activation. Lemon Squeezy and other service providers also operate under their own privacy policies.
2. Website information
The public website does not require an account. In the current launch version, Fretwise Pro does not intentionally use advertising trackers or behavioural advertising cookies.
Cloudflare may process technical information needed to host, secure, and deliver the website, such as IP address, request time, browser or device information, security events, and server logs. The embedded promotional video is delivered through Cloudflare Stream, which may receive normal connection and playback information.
3. Purchases and payment information
Checkout is hosted by Lemon Squeezy. Lemon Squeezy acts as merchant of record and handles payment information, billing details, sales taxes, receipts, order records, refunds, chargebacks, digital delivery, and licence-key generation.
Fretwise Pro may receive order information needed to provide the product and support, such as customer name, email address, country, order number, product purchased, licence status, and refund status. Fretwise Pro does not receive or store the purchaser's complete payment-card number.
4. Licence activation and validation
When the software activates or validates a licence, information may be sent to Lemon Squeezy's licence service. This may include the licence key, product and variant identifiers, activation status, and an app-generated instance identifier for the computer.
This information is used to confirm a valid purchase, enforce the activation limit, allow deactivation, prevent fraud, and provide licence support.
5. Information stored locally by the app
Fretwise Pro stores practice and preference information on the user's computer. Depending on the mode and current version, this can include:
- Selected mode, root, key type, chord type, fret range, and string group
- Tuning and saved custom tuning presets
- Colour skin and Tone selection
- Position Path route choice and answer visibility
- Progression, BPM, and metronome settings
- Practice History, scores, accuracy, and weak degrees
- Licence activation information protected through the operating system where available
This local data does not automatically sync between computers.
6. Tuner microphone access
The tuner requests microphone access only when the user starts it. Microphone audio is processed locally for pitch detection and is not intentionally recorded, stored, or uploaded by Fretwise Pro.
7. Support communications
When you contact fwpsupport@proton.me, Fretwise Pro receives the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, order details, device information, screenshots, and support request. Support communications are used to respond, troubleshoot, document issues, prevent abuse, and administer refunds or licences.
8. Service providers
Fretwise Pro relies on providers that process information for their own or contracted purposes:
- Cloudflare: website hosting, security, DNS, and video delivery
- Lemon Squeezy: checkout, payment, taxes, receipts, refunds, delivery, and licences
- Proton Mail: customer-support email
These providers may process information in countries outside the purchaser's location under their own terms and privacy practices.
9. Retention
Fretwise Pro retains support and order-related information only as long as reasonably needed for support, licence administration, fraud prevention, accounting, dispute handling, and legal obligations. Local app preferences remain on the user's computer until they are reset, deleted, or removed with the app or its data.
10. Your choices and requests
You may contact fwpsupport@proton.me to ask about personal information held directly by Fretwise Pro or to request correction or deletion where applicable. Payment and order data held by Lemon Squeezy may need to be requested from Lemon Squeezy and may be retained where required for transactions, tax, fraud, or legal obligations.
You can deny microphone permission and use the rest of the app without the tuner.
11. Security
Reasonable technical and organizational steps are used to protect information, but no internet transmission, email service, licence system, or local storage method can be guaranteed completely secure. Keep licence keys and order details private.
12. Changes and contact
This policy may be updated when the website, app, providers, or legal requirements change. The last-updated date identifies the current version.
