Privacy information

Privacy policy

This policy explains how information is handled by FRETWISE PRO - THE PATH in British Columbia, Canada, including the website, desktop app, purchase and licence providers, support, optional customer feedback surveys, and the 30-Day Fretwise Challenge.

Last updated: October 13, 2026

1. Scope and operator

This policy applies to the Fretwise Pro marketing website, Fretwise Pro: The Path desktop application, customer support, licence activation, optional customer feedback surveys, the 30-Day Fretwise Challenge, and content-permission requests handled by FRETWISE PRO - THE PATH, British Columbia, Canada.

Mailing address: FRETWISE PRO - THE PATH, PO Box 56649 RPO Lougheed Mall, Burnaby BC V3J 7W2, Canada.

2. Website information

The public website does not require a Fretwise account. Cloudflare may process technical information needed to host, secure, and deliver the site, such as IP address, request time, browser or device information, security events, and server logs.

Optional analytics and advertising-measurement tools are not intentionally loaded by Fretwise until the visitor gives the applicable consent through the site's privacy controls.

3. Optional Google Analytics

Fretwise may use Google Analytics 4 for basic website measurement such as page visits, traffic sources, device/browser information, approximate geographic reporting, and interactions with the site. The Fretwise implementation is intended for analytics rather than personalized advertising: advertising storage, ad personalization, and Google Signals are disabled in the site configuration.

When Google Analytics is enabled on this website, visitors are offered an analytics choice before the Fretwise site loads the Analytics tag. If analytics is declined, the Fretwise site does not intentionally load its Google Analytics tag. The choice is stored locally in the browser so the site can remember it.

Google states that Google Analytics may receive an IP address during collection for functions such as security and coarse location, but does not log or store the raw IP address in Google Analytics. Google Analytics also uses first-party cookies or similar identifiers when analytics storage is enabled.

4. Optional advertising measurement

Fretwise may use the Reddit Pixel to measure whether Reddit advertising leads to visits, interactions, and purchases, and to create or use advertising audiences such as retargeting audiences for visitors who have consented to advertising measurement. Depending on the interaction and Reddit's systems, information may include page visits, referring or advertising information, browser or device information, IP address or similar network information, and conversion-event information.

The Fretwise website is configured so the Reddit Pixel is not intentionally loaded unless the visitor grants advertising-measurement consent. Fretwise does not currently enable Reddit Pixel advanced matching in the browser, so the site does not intentionally send email addresses or phone numbers to Reddit through the Pixel for matching.

Purchase attribution may also be reported through a server-side conversion method when implemented. If that is enabled, Fretwise will limit the information sent to what is reasonably needed to measure advertising performance and attribute a purchase, subject to Reddit's applicable terms and privacy practices.

5. Embedded videos

The website uses embedded video players, including Cloudflare Stream and YouTube's privacy-enhanced embed domain where practical. Those providers may receive normal connection, device, security, and playback information when a video player is loaded or used. Their own privacy terms also apply.

6. Purchases and payment information

Direct checkout is hosted by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as merchant of record and handles payment information, billing details, applicable taxes, receipts, order records, refunds, chargebacks, digital delivery, and related transaction functions.

Fretwise may receive order information needed to deliver and support the product, such as customer name, email address, country, order number, product purchased, licence status, and refund status. Fretwise does not receive or store the purchaser's complete payment-card number.

If you choose the Microsoft Store instead of direct checkout, Microsoft handles the Store transaction under Microsoft's own terms and privacy practices.

7. Licence activation and validation

When the software activates or validates a direct-purchase licence, information may be sent to Lemon Squeezy's licence service. This may include the licence key, product and variant identifiers, activation status, and an app-generated instance identifier for the computer. The information is used to confirm a valid purchase, enforce the activation limit, allow deactivation, prevent fraud, and provide licence support.

8. Information stored locally by the app

Fretwise Pro stores practice and preference information on the user's computer. Depending on the mode and version, this can include selected mode, key, chord or scale settings, fret range, string group, tuning, saved custom tunings, colour/tone preferences, route settings, progression/BPM/metronome settings, practice history, scores, accuracy, weak degrees, and licence activation information. This local data does not automatically sync between computers.

9. Tuner microphone access

The tuner requests microphone access only when the user starts it. Microphone audio is processed locally for pitch detection and is not intentionally recorded, stored, or uploaded by Fretwise Pro.

10. 30-Day Fretwise Challenge

The Challenge invites participants to record a Day 1 starting clip and revisit the same or a closely related musical idea on Day 30. You do not need to submit your recordings to Fretwise and you may keep them private.

If you voluntarily publish a Challenge post and tag or mention Fretwise, Fretwise may become aware of information you made public, such as your public username/handle, profile information, video or image, caption, comments, posting date, and the social platform where it appeared. Fretwise may use that information to view the tagged post, respond to you, administer the Challenge, or contact you about whether you would like the content featured.

Simply tagging Fretwise does not give Fretwise permission to reuse the content in its own marketing or advertising.

11. Permission to feature participant content

If Fretwise wants to repost, feature, or use a participant's video, image, testimonial, handle, or other identifiable Challenge content for Fretwise marketing, Fretwise will request separate affirmative permission. The applicable terms are set out in the Content Permission Release.

Participation in the Challenge is not conditioned on granting marketing permission. Content featuring a minor will require permission from a parent or legal guardian before Fretwise uses it for marketing.

12. Optional customer feedback survey

Fretwise may send a one-time feedback invitation approximately 15 days after a direct purchase. To administer that invitation, Fretwise may use purchase-related information such as the customer email address, order identifier, purchase date, refund status, whether the survey invitation has been sent, and whether the customer has unsubscribed from survey email.

The survey is voluntary. Survey responses may include ratings, product feedback, feature requests, and any information the customer chooses to enter in text fields. Customers may also choose to submit an optional testimonial. Fretwise will not use a testimonial publicly unless the customer affirmatively gives permission in the survey. If public use is permitted, the customer may choose how they wish to be identified.

Survey responses are collected using Tally. The survey invitation is sent from feedback@fretwisepro.com. A customer may use the unsubscribe link in the survey email to stop future Fretwise survey emails.

13. Support communications

When you contact support@fretwisepro.com, Fretwise receives the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, order details, device information, screenshots, and support request. Support communications are used to respond, troubleshoot, document issues, prevent abuse, and administer refunds or licences.

14. Service providers

Fretwise relies on providers that may process information for their own or contracted purposes:

  • Cloudflare: hosting, security, DNS, Cloudflare Stream video delivery, and survey-automation records used to control one-time survey sending and unsubscribes
  • Google: optional Google Analytics and YouTube video delivery
  • Reddit: optional advertising measurement, conversion attribution, and retargeting for consenting visitors
  • Lemon Squeezy: direct checkout, payment, taxes, receipts, refunds, delivery, and licensing
  • Microsoft: Microsoft Store listing and Store transactions when a customer chooses that option
  • Proton Mail: customer-support and customer-feedback email delivery
  • Tally: voluntary customer feedback survey responses and optional testimonial permissions
  • Social platforms: public Challenge posts and tags when participants choose to use them

These providers may process information in countries outside your location under their own terms and privacy practices.

15. Retention

Fretwise retains support, order-related, survey-administration, survey-response, Challenge-contact, and permission records only as long as reasonably needed for support, product improvement, licence administration, accounting, dispute handling, documenting permissions, security, and legal obligations. Local app preferences remain on the user's computer until they are reset or deleted.

16. Your choices and requests

You may contact hello@fretwisepro.com to ask about personal information held directly by Fretwise or request correction or deletion where applicable. You may also ask Fretwise to stop future marketing use of Challenge content for which you previously gave permission, subject to the terms of the permission release.

You can decline optional website analytics and optional advertising measurement, change your website privacy preferences, deny microphone permission, keep Challenge recordings private, and participate in the Challenge without giving Fretwise marketing permission.

17. Security

Reasonable technical and organizational steps are used to protect information, but no internet transmission, email service, licence system, analytics service, or local storage method can be guaranteed completely secure. Keep licence keys and order details private.

18. Changes and contact

This policy may be updated when the website, app, providers, surveys, Challenge, or legal requirements change. The date at the top identifies the current version.

Privacy questions, access requests, corrections, complaints, or withdrawal requests may be sent to the person responsible for privacy at FRETWISE PRO - THE PATH via hello@fretwisepro.com.
